Virtual Events in 2023: Here to Stay or Fading Away?

In 2020, virtual events became the norm as businesses scrambled to adjust to our new socially distant reality. But what will happen in 2023? Will virtual events still be necessary then, or will we have returned to a more traditional way of doing things? Let’s take a look at the current situation and consider whether virtual events are here to stay.

The Pros and Cons of Virtual Events

Virtual events have their advantages. For one, they can be much easier on the budget than an in-person event. There's no need to rent out a space or pay for catering; you can host your event from the comfort of your own home or office! You also don't need to worry about travel costs for your guests, which can make them much more accessible. Additionally, many platforms offer features like polls and Q&A sessions that allow guests to interact in ways that wouldn't be possible with an in-person event.

On the other hand, there are some drawbacks to virtual events as well. One major issue is that it can be difficult to create an atmosphere of excitement and energy when everyone is just looking at a screen from their homes. It's also not easy for people who aren't tech savvy, making it hard for older members of your audience to participate. Finally, there is always a risk of technical difficulties due to spotty internet connections or other issues that could derail the entire event.

The Future of Virtual Events

With all this in mind, it seems likely that virtual events will continue to play a role in business and social gatherings even after we return back to our pre-COVID lives in 2023. While they may no longer be our go-to option for large gatherings like conferences, they may still remain important tools for smaller meetings and training sessions where travel costs would otherwise make those events prohibitively expensive or inconvenient. Additionally, virtual events may still serve as useful backups if circumstances arise that necessitate social distancing measures once again—so even if you're planning an in-person event for 2023, it's never too early start thinking about how you could adapt it into a virtual format if needed!

It looks like virtual events won't be going away anytime soon! Even though we're all hoping things can return back to normal by 2023, it's wise to plan ahead and consider how you might utilize virtual events if circumstances change again down the road. And even once we do return back to our pre-COVID lives, there may still be advantages—both financial and logistical—to hosting certain types of events virtually instead of in person! So don't discount this option just yet; you never know when you might need it!
